A Summer of Remarkable Events at Zillah Lakes Concludes in August with our
Summer GOLF COURSE Celebration
at Zillah Lakes, on August 28-29, Saturday/Sunday.
Many of you have visited Zillah Lakes over the last year or so... and complimented the quality of the homes and the community itself. Yet, we know that questions lingered that may have held back decisions to purchase a lot or home. In a set of remarkable opportunities and solutions during the spring and summer, we have put answers to almost all of those question-marks! Our Summer GOLF COURSE Celebration is an all-American party to mark those answers as well as a sun & summer picnic in wine country (see schedule below).
- All-day barbecue both days featuring Pat’s Special Barbecue w/ Bevs & Beans (and coleslaw, etc.)
- All day both days: 6 model homes open for touring, (free Zillah Lakes Golf Club Hat for first 25 each day)
- Ground-breaking for the nine-hole golf course (already in construction) (12 Noon Sat.) and for our new tennis courts and mini-park. (Noon, Saturday)
- Celebration of the new Yakima Sheriff Substation (Noon, Saturday)
As well, we are planning a number of fun events for the general public:
- Dog Days Dog Walk all day both days on our famous nature trail (bring your pups!)
- Fishing Derby (first fisherman under 15 that pulls out an edible fish from our super-quality lake will get a T-Shirt and Baseball Cap) Starting 8 AM Saturday. Winner Announced: 1 PM
- Zillah Lakes “Lakeside After Hours” with wine-tasting and Live Music (6 PM Saturday) (featuring “Lori & Los Boys”)
Yes, You Heard Right: Construction Has Started on the Zillah Lakes’ Golf Course!
 This spring, a remarkable combination of Zillah Lakes neighbors, new investment, and a partnership with a local golf course owner/developer, paved the way for the long-delayed golf course to finally get started. The nine-hole course will be slightly shorter than originally planned, though boasting two major 5 pars. Conceived as a community-friendly course, it will be challenging for no- and low-handicap golfers, but will also be family friendly, accommodating nature trails, wetlands & habitat, and other community-favorite activities woven through it. Five holes to be constructed this year (playable next summer) will start at Fountain Boulevard (main entry) and wrap around the east end of the project, and further along the north side of I-82. This will be followed by four additional holes next spring. We’re going to be GREEN! Come out & watch our progress!
Neighbor Involvement Improves the Roundabout
Zillah Lakes neighbors have been a remarkable crew this summer, coming together for beautification projects at Zillah Lakes, providing advice and resources on the golf course, and enjoying parties on the patio. If you see them, say thank you, for the great spirit and their remarkable additions to livability in the ‘hood. Next? A boat/swimming dock on the Lake.
More Potential Announcements... Not Quite Ready for Prime Time
Along with our currently planned activities at our celebration event, we are close to making several additional exciting (and remarkable) announcements about progress and future projects in Zillah Lakes:
- A Combination Bed & Breakfast, Golf Clubhouse, Grill, & Clock Tower in the town square.
- An Assisted Living Facility at the East end of the project (which would allow extension of Vintage Valley Parkway)
- A co-location agreement with a local nursery, including agreements to help plant an arboretum and green buffers along the Freeway
Other announcements are also possible, but cannot be revealed at this time... you’ll just have to come and see everything at our All American Celebration!
Nature on Display
Clyde & Lenie Moslander are proud of their new United Builders home located on the beautiful main lake at Zillah Lakes and have taken some great photos of wildlife at their rural retreat (they come over from the West side almost weekly and plan to build a larger home & retire here). Exciting News: Sheriff’s Office in Finishing Stages
 The new Yakima County Sheriff Substation (see picture on left) is is completely framed and is now being finished on the inside. When occupied in early September we’ll have the ultimate safety net: police/sheriff cars cruising through the development at all hours. We also welcome the new activity in our town center... surely a donut shop is not far behind!!!
Nature Trail Expansion?
One of the most popular diversions at Zillah Lakes is our 1.7 mile nature trail, suitable for walking/biking even a golf cart. We rouse thousands of birds including waterfowl, great blue heron, eagles, blackbirds & goldfinches, as well as muskrats, river otters, fish, the occasional beaver (before being trapped & sent upriver to beaver paradise in the mountains) and an amazing variety of plant life. Part of our new plan is to expand our trail system all the way along the stream, and to clear the stream for kayaking & other water activities.
